Since I own a Kindle, I occasionally feel the need to justify its purchase by actually reading something on it. So recently I started “I Never Metaphor I Didn’t Like” by Dr. Mardy Grothe. It is a collection of analogies, similes, and (naturally) metaphors. I’m a few chapters in and have really been enjoying it. Dr. Grothe has a habit of over-explaining some of the quotes he uses, but that’s not too big of an annoyance. And the book is a treasure trove of interesting bits of wit and wisdom from a wide variety of folks. I’m certain I will be mining it’s digital pages for blog material on a regular basis. I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys clever and insightful wordplay.
