CNN has a story on the prevailing attitudes Americans have towards racism. According to the poll referenced in the article, almost half of those surveyed said that they know someone who is racist. Yet only 12-13 percent think of themselves as racially biased.
So either that 12-13% are very outgoing, or lots of people in the poll aren’t being honest with themselves. I think it’s probably that latter. People like to think of themselves as being morally superior to others, and that’s probably all this poll has demonstrated.
